Hello readers!
My name is Casey A’Hearn and I am a Masters student at the University of Alabama in Religion in Culture.
Within the academy, I dedicate myself to understanding how people use scripture in conjunction with how religion functions in society (or doesn’t). My research concentration is in Mormonism and American Religion. I am currently working on a digital humanities project coding a program to read different editions of the Book of Mormon.
However, these are not my only defining interests! For a long time, I have been fascinated with the intersection between fantasy worlds and religion. I hope to bring a different perspective to the scholarship as a young, first-generation researcher. As a scholar, I strive to be as curious as I can be because only I can make what I study interesting.
Outside of the academy, I am an avid video gamer and plant parent. I have a few plants ranging from Aloe vera, Ficus lyrata, Peperomia caperata, Sansevieria, and Epipremnum aureum are a few of the plants I currently care for. I also have a cat named Epris! My friends and I play various RPGs including Dungeons and Dragons and Wanderhome.
In terms of introductions, that is all I have for today. I hope to make this a space where I can work through different thoughts and problems I find with my own scholarship!
Signing off,
Casey Logan A’Hearn
